I look at the Google Analytics all the time for my website (who doesn’t?). It’s good to be close to the data and really know your audience. But what fascinates me the most is thinking about those people on the other side of Google searching for “Turnkey Business.” Who are they? What are they really looking for? What is their experience? Do they understand business?
These are the thoughts going through my head as I look at the comments on my turnkey business blog. People contact me with questions and I talk to some of them on the phone. Here are a few observations that I have if you asked me to summarize the Turnkey Business internet searcher:
- They are generally unrealistic about how long businesses take to grow.
- They have relatively little business experience.
- They still view the Internet as less competitive than traditional businesses.
- They have very little start-up capital for their new turnkey business idea.
I’m not trying to be harsh here, just realistic. These are good folks. They are all heart. I love their enthusiasm and optimism. However, through the many years that I have been doing this, I now know the sad truth about the statistics. 99% of these people will never lift a serious finger beyond a Google search or two. The one’s who jump on the phone with me have slightly more staying power, but it fades also – sadly. I would love to be able to call out many business success stories I’ve seen from the turnkey internet business crowd, but it is unfortunately hard to do.
